Resources* are sorted into categories, but consider exploring not only those in a category that describes your circumstances, but also those in other categories—for example, if you’re an NPE or are donor conceived, there may be much of interest in resources directed toward adoptees. Many more books have been written about adoption and it’s been the subject of considerable research. Attention to NPEs and donor conceived individuals is in its infancy and, thus, resources are scarce. But NPEs, adults abandoned as children, donor conceived individuals and others separated from biological family will find much that resonates in books and research pertaining to adoption, and adoptees similarly may benefit from non-adoption resources.
This section is by no means comprehensive. It’s a work in progress, and your suggestions are welcome. If you provide services to adoptees, NPEs, donor conceived people and other genetic identity seekers, we’d like to include you in the resources. Please send a message to info@severancemag.com.
*Except where indicated otherwise, inclusion in the Resources should not be interpreted as an endorsement.
